B for Breakfast, D for Dhokla!

Our car had a flat tyre,
on the same side that I sit on. I told Niket, it can't be me, it is Yashi, my 6 mo baby, since her weight is increasing faster than mine!

I didn't make dinner yesterday, Niket wanted to have pizza (from Papa John's!) I had kept the batter ready though, for idlis. I was not sure how to use it, but struck me that I could use it to make rice flour dhoklas! So I put the batter in a square glass dish and microwaved it! The dhoklas tasted very good after adding the tempering.

My recipe for dhoklas-
1 cup sour curd
1 cup water
3 tbsp rice flour
3 tbsp semolina
2 tbsp gram flour / besan
1 tsp eno/ fruit salt / baking soda
salt to taste

Mix these together and keep aside for 20 mins. Pour in a greased dish and microwave for 5 mins on full power (check with a knife, if it comes out clean, it is done) Let cool. Cut into squares

Tempering-
1tbsp mustard oil
2 tsp mustard seeds
split green chillies (I didn't have any)

Heat the mustard oil in a kadahi / wok. Add mustad seeds and let them splutter, add green chillies and the dhokla pieces, mix well.

Serve hot. The mustard oil and the mustard seeds tadka gives a strong mustard taste and a total Bihari twist to the dhokla :) Can serve with chutney / ketchup.

This is going to B for Breakfast, check event details.
